Election Burnout – Can Mindfulness Help?

EPISODE: 006

The election is over – a new president has been sworn in but “election burnout” has many Americans stressed.

So, what can you do to alleviate stress in your life? Practicing mindfulness is one way people are finding relief. It’s a form of meditation where you focus on the present moment  – and it’s been shown to have many benefits.

Mindfulness and mindful meditation can help with stress, anxiety, pain and even depression whether it be from the current political climate, work, relationships or just sitting in traffic.

Julie Leads Me In A Mindful Meditation – Check It Out!

Julie Potiker

Julie Potiker knows first-hand how mindful meditation can help. While leading a busy life practicing law, raising a child and volunteering for several groups, she started having symptoms that mimicked a brain tumor. It wasn’t a brain tumor but her neurologist suggested she look into MBSR, a Mindful Based Stress Reduction Program.

Potiker success with MBSR prompted her to change careers becoming a mindful meditation practitioner. She is the owner of Mindful Methods for Life and founded the Balanced Mind Meditation Center at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center in San Diego in honor of her mother Ruth Jacobowitz, an award-winning medical writer.

In this podcast, Potiker explains mindfulness. She also discusses what led to her career change, how mindful meditation has changed her life and how it might change yours.

  1. I love how she discusses her journey from overworked and stressed to mindful and calm. The bonus meditation was wonderful and I’ve listened to it several times. Great episode!
